John Stuart Mill

A British philosopher in the mid 1800s. And was one of the early influential contributors to utilitarian ethical theory. Utilitarianism is based on the principle of “utility” - that is, the degree to which one’s decisions and actions benefit other people. This theory advocates looking at the consequences of one’s actions, and choosing the action that produces the greatest good for the greatest number of people.
