Creative Commons License

Creative Commons is a global non-profit organization that promotes creativity through collaboration. They develop and share a collection of free, easy-to-use copyright licences that anyone can use to license their own works.

Each combination of choices results in a different licence agreement. All of the licences allow licensees to copy and redistribute the work as long as the author of the original work is properly attributed. All of the licences promote sharing and distribution of the work.

CC License

They are simple to use. A creator decides under which license they want to make their work available. Then annotate their work with that chosen license. The annotation serves as a notice to anyone who sees the work that the work is publicly available to anyone under the terms of the license.

Don’t be fooled by the CC license being easy to replicate. Writing license is not for amateurs. Behind this façade of each license is a 5-6 page legal explanation of the license that is meant to be legally binding. But CC organization doesn’t make guarantees about their licenses holding up in court.
