Henry Ford switched his factory in Highland Park, Michigan, to the method of assembly line in 1913, the labor-hours required to produce a Model $T$ dropped from $12.5$ to $1.5$ - a staggering improvement. By the end of the decade, half of the cars in the United States had been produced by the Ford Motor Company.
