- Notable for contributions to concert music.
- 1938: works with Orson Wells (radio plays) The War Of The Worlds.
- Listeners confused radio play with actual broadcasts; panic.
- Hollywood studios look to pick up Wells. He declines due to lack of creative control.
- Given creative control, Wells travels to Hollywood in 1940.
