  • Notable for contributions to concert music.
  • 1938: works with Orson Wells (radio plays) The War Of The Worlds.
    • Listeners confused radio play with actual broadcasts; panic.
  • Hollywood studios look to pick up Wells. He declines due to lack of creative control.
  • Given creative control, Wells travels to Hollywood in 1940.
